The Third International BHD Symposium … and us!

Many apologies for the break in posting – we’ve had a change of guard at the Myrovlytis Trust. Duncan has moved on to coordinate the development of the Lung Research Wales Research Portfolio, and Vicki and I have recently joined the Trust. You’ll be hearing from us in the future, but to give you guys a little background: Vicki arrived at the Trust after a PhD at the University of York, where she used structural and biophysical techniques to characterise bacterial transcriptional regulators. My PhD, at the University of Edinburgh, focussed on epigenetics, stem cells and regenerative medicine, using Zebrafish as a model organism.

We are both very excited to now be a part of the BHD community, and what better way to meet you all than at the Third International BHD Symposium, to be held in Maastricht, the Netherlands, on 11th and 12th May 2011. We are delighted that the keynote speakers will include Dr. Bin Teh of Van Andel Institute, Dr. Kuniaki Seyama of Juntendo University and Dr. Sunil Sudarshan of the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio. The first and second BHD Symposia were a huge success, bringing together scientists and patients from all over the world, stimulating interesting discussions and bringing about new insights. Further details regarding the Symposium will be available soon, so be sure to watch this space!
